Google Health dies

Google announced last Friday on an official company blog that it was ending its Google Health personal health record platform because it could not scale user adoption to expectations. Current users have until January 1, 2013 to transfer their health-related information from the service.

NASCIO issues IT guidance on health benefit exchanges

While states continue to face unprecedented fiscal challenges, federal funding has incentivized states to move forward on building an online insurance market for constituents. The National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) has release a publication called “On the Fence: IT Implications of the Health Benefit Exchanges.” The complimentary paper describes the unique opportunity for states to either develop and run their own exchanges or default to the federal government to establish and operate the exchanges.

Advanced wireless telemetry monitoring installed at Southeast Alabama Medical Center

SAMC recently replaced its legacy telemetry transmitters with the Dräger Infinity M300 patient-worn monitor that provides the performance characteristics of a full-size patient monitor with the freedom of a wireless connection. The med center has acquired 200 of these wireless devices, making it the largest installation of M300 monitors worldwide.
